Special Sections

Here is one of the special sections I designed for the January issue of 417 Magazine. During January, readers visited the participating restaurants, tried their wings and voted on 417mag.com. I had a lot of fun designing this section. It was a new promotion, so I was able to create everything from scratch. I designed the logo, layout/look, web campaign and the posters and tents that were displayed at the participating restaurants. I even got to try some of the wings during our photo shoots!

DIY

Here are a few of my latest projects at home. Yellow is my favorite decor color right now. I made this no-sew pillow with some material from my favorite fabric store. You wrap it around a pillow, and then tie it in a knot at the end. Easy and stylish!
I love my frame display. I'll probably add more vintage/rustic frames to it as I find them.
I spray painted these pine cones with gold glitter. It's a nice winter decor item.

417 Magazine Ads

Here are a few of my favorite ads I designed for the magazine. The medical spa month ads I created, in the magazine and online, were for a new promotion in 417, so I designed everything from scratch. I started with the logo to set the theme and feel of the design, then I created the ads and web campaign. Rodi Boutique is a client of mine that I design for almost every month. I took the photo for the ad shown. It was neat to be involved in both steps of the design process.

New Chapter

Jamie and I moved to Springfield in August and started a new chapter of our lives. The last five months have been fun, exciting and wonderful. For starters, we bought our first home and both have jobs we love. I've enjoyed trying out new places and meeting new people.

I started working for 417 Magazine as a creative coordinator at the end of August. It fits me perfectly. I have quite a few roles. I design ads for clients, and I’m in charge of all the special sections, such as the profiles, product features and guides. I’m also a part of the Marketing team, which involves designing house ads, signage and materials for our events, and ads for 417 and non-417 web campaigns. It takes a lot of organization and at times deep breaths, but there is never a dull moment, and each day is different. I love it.

I've been using my blog to show my invitation and card designs, but I'm going to start publishing some of my work from the magazine, as well as DIY projects, recipes and other things that make up my world. I'm looking forward to getting more use out of my blog. I hope you enjoy!

Waddell Holiday Card

Here is the holiday card I designed for my sister-in-law's family. These photos of the girls are great, as usual. I love her taste in clothing, and she always has the best ideas for backdrops and accessories. Having beautiful girls is a great bonus ;)
